I am Gurnam Singh Sidhu born on 16th feb 1955. My father Sh. Jai Singh Sidhu, mother Smt. Kishan kaur grown up me in village Kalyan Malka dist. Bathinda (pbi). During my study after passing B.A, I passed four degrees in M.A. of different subjects. After that I tought math to students for long time .At the same time in 1972, I started writing bolyan for Malwai Giddha and take interest in folk dance and Giddha. In the mean time, I take blessings of S. Kartar Lopo (Moga) as my Guru. In every nook and corner of Punjab, ever in different places in India. I have recorded so many prizes and appreciation certificates. I have added to the literature by writing two books “Boli Mai Pawa” and “BAR S.Kartar Singh Srabha”.
So far as Malwai Giddha is concerned I used to check talent of minor students recognizing. The stage performance after selecting students with such talent then I start them dancing Gradually when the such students attain age 13 to 15 years start them to learn the bolian for Giddha.. Then the next lesson for them was how to use “Bugchu” (a lyrics instrument) how to perform Giddha and how to speak loudy “Boli”. In this way after teaching upper lessons. The student fed confidence to play on bhangra when lovely students come on stage .In their Malwai Giddha uniform i.e, “Kurta (Shirt), Chadra and Turbaned a “Turla” with “Kantha” in their “necks”. Then audience enjoyed and try to see them by standing on chairs and benches. Such good response from audience Bhangra party students feel excited. After training a small stages then they asked to perform on big stages. Then small stages then they asked to perform on big stages. Then they start participating in program. After performing feds encouraged. Today 70-80 of these student are the broad winners of their families and performing fine on stages. They are away from every intoxication. For these student was urgent to get perfection in boli speaking. To remember bolies, to practice for “Saz” and contact with me time to time was the main subject with smile they told me that today no have fixed dated program for 35000. Participants artists to divide money Rs. 1500 to 1800 for assistance and main participants paid Rs 5000 to Rs. 7000. It give me much pleasure.Besides this I worked,, not in Punjab only, shared with so many big literary societies in the world. Since 26 Jan 2019 to up date continuously. wrote above then 1600 bolian, Keep in the view time and importance of days, donated to Punjabi literature. I felt much pleased when people encouraged me with good comments. Besides this I wrote so many bolies on” Shri Guru NanakDev Ji” and “Farmer Protest At Delhi”. My Punjabi bolies impressed much the new young generation.Other new students are coming in be live long to learn. Bhangra this time is becoming big day by day and feel much pleasure. The Malwai Giddha which was just to die in 1970-80 but now the same Malwai Giddha is played on different auspicious days in Punjabi by my students.
