The Outline of Prof. (Dr.) Abhijit H. Joshi’s Career and Research
Dr. Abhijit H. Joshi, born in Kolhapur, Maharashtra State, in June 1976 acquired his U.G. and P.G. in Ayurveda from Shivaji University, Kolhapur and Savitribai Phule Pune University respectively. He acquired his Ph.D. in Ayurveda from Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune in 2009.
His post doctoral research in the areas of Ayurveda and Sanskrit (No Drug Therapy), Yoga (For treating primary infertility) and Indian dietary practices (Compatibility of various food items, Rules and regulations of eating food, Storage of foods items) has been accepted and acknowledged by various National and International Universities and brought him laurels. Karnataka Sanskrit University, Bengaluru, Indian Institute of Medicine, Yoga-Samskrutham University, Florida, U.S.A., Deccan College (University) Pune, Lincoln University College, Malaysia has conferred D.Litt / Post Doctorate to him. He has also presented his research to Harvard University (Executive Global Systems), Boston, USA from where he received Post Doctoral Diploma.
He is academician at core and teaching is his passion. He started his teaching career in the year 2001 as a Lecturer in college in the rural area of Maharashtra and subsequently assumed position of the Vice Principal in the same college. He worked in various capacities as HOD, Reader and Professor. Currently he is the Dean of Faculty of Ayurved and Yoga and also an Acting Registrar in Tilak Maharasthra Vidyapeeth, Pune, Maharasthra. He has a total of 22 years of teaching and research experience. He has been very instrumental throughout his academic career and has contributed in the expansion of the Institutions he worked in.
He is the great Visionary to “think what nobody else has thought.”Hence, his research is innovative and multidisciplinary in true sense, in the areas of Nutrition and Yoga.
He has been working on several Govt. and Non Govt. Bodies and has discharged duties as a Research Expert / Advisor on several Government Committees such as NAAC, CCRAS, etc. He is holding various key positions on various Boards/Committees in 11 (eleven) Universities in India.
His core research areas are Ayurved (Samhita Siddhant), Sanskrit, Yoga and Indian Dietary Practices.
He is recipient of many prestigious awards, to name a few are “Aaryabhatta” Award by Association of Ayurvedic Professional in North America, Inc. USA (AAPNA), Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan National Award 2020 by ALMA World India, Maharshi Badarayan Vyas Samman Award (Presidential Award) 2019 by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, “Pride of India 2021” Honor by Indo-UK Cultural Forum London (England) in January 2021, Certificate of Honor in September 2021 from Atal Foundation, Govt. of India, Ministry of Corporate Affairs for his Outstanding Contribution in the field of Vedas, Ayurved and Yoga for the Society, “Maharashtra Gaurav Sanman Puraskar” by Times Group in April 2022. He has also been felicitated with Bharat Kirtiman Alankaran 2022 in September 2022.
His name has been included in the World Book of Records, London as “one of the youngest persons with maximum national and international post doctoral degrees across the world”. His many honors include the Young Scientist Award for 2018 by European Ayurveda Academy & Certificate of recognition as International Scientist by IIT Madras Research Park. He also holds Asia Book Record for being the Youngest Person awarded with D.Litt and D.Sc. in Ayurveda. Under his guidance the students of M.A. Yoga and M.Sc. Nutrition programs have also established world record in the year 2019 and 2020. He has received the Gold Medal from European Ayurved Academy in April 2009 for his M.D. Research. The other awards include C.P.D. Award from the College of Ayurved, London, U.K. for paper presentation at 2nd International Ayurveda Conference in July 2008. He was the resource person for Ayurveda Paribhasha Kosha Work Shop held by Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD, New Delhi. He is the recipient of International Award “Charak Samhita International Rugved Vaidyak Bhushan Award” from International Ayurveda Association and European Ayurveda Academy. He has been felicitated at the hands of Dr. Shripad Naik, Union Minister, Dept. of AAYUSH in August 2015 as the Guest of Honor for Medicinal Plants Garden inauguration and Medicinal Plants book release.
