1. Coming from academic and military family background, DR. Murudkar has an opportunity to live in a Gurukul, popularly known as Samant Gurunji Nav Bharat Chhatralay, Dapoli. He studied in Alfred Gadney High School, Dapoli. He was not only good at studies but also very active in athletics, sports, games and extracurricular activities. He was Captain of the School Kabbadi Team, Best Body Builder and General Secretary of the School Gatherings.
2. Joining the Indian Air Force as a regular combatant Airman on 8th of January, 1966, was a God sent opportunity to him. During training he was adjudged as one of best cadets of the course. Wherever he was posted in Air Force, he was always assessed as ‘Exceptional’ by his superiors. At the same time, he continued his academic pursuits by passing his B.A. from Jiwaji University, Gwalior, M.A. in English Literature from Karnataka University, Dharwad, and LL.B. degree from Delhi University.
3. After release from the Air Force in 1981, he practiced as Advocate in the High Court of Mumbai for ten years. Simultaneously, he did part-time teaching in Law at Govt Law College, Mumbai, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and University of Mumbai. At the same time, completed his LL.M. and Ph.D. in Constitutional Law degrees from University of Mumbai.
4. His Ph.D. thesis Problems of Equality, Affirmative Action & Social Change : A Judicial Response is a critical study in the matter of enabling provisions incorporated in the Constitution of India for the advancement of certain sections of the society and the positive role of Supreme Court and the various High Courts in upholding these provisions for the advancement of these groups since the advent of the Constitution. The Thesis was examined and highly acclaimed by by Justice P. N. Bhagwati and Justice V. R. Krishna Aiyer, Hon’ble Chief Justice and Hon’ble Justice respectively of the Supreme Court of India, well known personages in the Indian and International judicial system, withDR. Meena Rao, Head of the Department of Law, University of Mumbai.
4. Meanwhile, the Hon’ble High Court, Mumbai appointed him as a Special Metropolitan Magistrates and thus he was privileged to preside over the courts as Magistrate in Greater Mumbai for five years. Subsequently, he was appointed as full time Registrar of University of Mumbai till his retirement
5. DR. Murudkar is well known for his academic accomplishments, knowledge of University affairs and administrative acumen of a University as gigantic as University of Mumbai. He was therefore rightly appointed as First Vice-Chancellor of JJT University, Rajasthan and thereafter as Vice-Chancellor of Shri Venkateshwara University, UttarPradesh. He was also selected and nominated as Vice-Chancellor of Himgiri Zee University, Dehradun.
6. During his long career spanning more than 50 years, Dr Murudkar has received several honours and awards including Sword of Honour by University of Mumbai, Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) Insurance Advisor – 2022 by Life Insurance Corporation of India, Honorary degree of Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) by Commonwealth Vocational University, London, Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) by European International University, Paris, Amazing Air Veteran Award – 2021 by Air Veterans Association of India and of course, for the award of Sangram Medal, Paschim Star and Commendation by the IAF for his role in the Indo-Pak War of 1971.
7. At present, he is a Vice-president, Air Force Association, Mumbai and active member of Indian Exservices League and engaged in giving meaningful services to the ex-servicemen and their dependents in the matter of their pension and other related issues.
